Guess what monster fish this is

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Is it a Anabas testudineus

Hiya and welcome to MFK jjpchongo, you talking about the one in post #1108? Not a walleye, and USMCtanker it is not the Anabas, Fugupuff has guessed the family, Embiotocidae (surfperches) but we still need the fish itself.

Cymatogaster aggregata

I've probably caught these before :)

That is the one Masheer, It is one of the more common inshore fishes on the US west coast, the common shiner perch, but it is pretty and gets about 8 " max. Easy to keep to and if you catch them up in the coastal marshes they are pretty easy to get to light brackish or even full fresh. there are several population living in full freshwater way up in the Sacromental delta, something that suprised the hell out of me.
