HMmmm It does look like a Northern Pike Minnow but I don't think I have even seen one that big before.

Here are a couple pics of the Ptychocheilus oregonensis, northern pike minnow and worlds largest true minnow, formerly known as northern squawfish before the politically correct crowd sent in the word police, I catch a lot of these and in some places there is a bounty on them. I caught one day before yesterday that was about 14" long. that is an average size but they have been caught at over 60"s and I once caught one in Washington state that was almost 4 feet long.

I don't think it is a pikeminnow.

My first guess is a Barbel (Barbus bardus) but I can't see any whiskers, so maybe a Vimba (Vimba vimba)
If those aren't right how about confirming if it is a cyprinid?

Nope...they are not right either. It is a cyprinid and it comes from Asia.

Barbus graellsii?.... can we get more pictures. The Asian cyprinid group is a large group of fish, and many look alike when older. There are less appreciable differences among them than some other species

barbus andrewi looks similar, but from africa. i could name a dozen of similar species. probably all originated from one that have just established a subpopulation and considered as a geographical variation.

Pictures of this guy are hard to find, here is a drawing though. More detail then the picture.

. I will narrow it down even more. They are found in Iraq and Turkey.
