hehe, I was gonna post an Alosa alabamae that we caught a few weeks ago but the pics were at school. Its not in the family Clupidae.
Sorry to derail, but that is not chagunius chagunio, I've kept Chagunius before, so has "masheer" our other board member, the one that guppy posted, i'm 99% sure its a juvie catla catla which I've had before in the past also.
They call it the shovel mouth carp because it has a down turned mouth, that extends long like a vacuum. Unfortunately this fish is rarely seen in the wild already and the pictures that I have are lost somewhere in cyberspace. This picture is by Kamphol a Indian supplier: hope he doesn't mind me using it here
After doing a little more research, I see how it was mistaken for chaguinius, here is a website with the pictures, is this the one you found Guppy?

Yeah that was the website and going back to it I see I got the wrong description with the picture, it is indeed the Catla catla, not the Chagunius.

and my thanks Wes for pointing that out, now if I use the site again I will at least connect the names to the right fish.
It was you who guessed catla but since Dredcon has posted a picture shall we continue with that one? If I guess it right I will ask you to post next.
