But looks more like a tortoise than a turtle.

no im not going to mess with her eggs... But after I stoped taking pictures, something scared her of and she ran back to the water. I will try to catch her digging again if I can.

She's a spiny softshell turtle, the shell is very distinctive.

thats awesome,id love to keep a soft shell as a pet,but they are hard to find.
