What test kit are you using?

What's water hardness, general and carbonate?

Is pH stable, no wild swings (there shouldn't be with sufficient carbonate hardness = buffering)?

Is aeration adequate?

It's not normal for the gulpers to not feed for a month after arrival. It can happen but not normal. Shouldn't be expected.

They look exceedingly sickly.

Hardness is around 75ppm
Kh roughly 80 ppm
Ph never really changes
I use the api master test kit

I fail to see any flags in the info provided. I must note though getting you to help us help you is a bit of a challenge.

If you can go over these check lists and think of anything else, let us know:

For now, I am inclined to attribute it to a pathogen that they either brought with them or picked up from your tank. I doubt it was ich. If they did develop the ich, it'd be secondary. I'd think the primary pathogen was / is different.

Sorry for being difficult I was in a panic as iv wanted these fish for forever now. It's ultimately my fault as I do not quarantine new fish although I added all fish in tank at same time I looked past a few spots on the exterior of the gulpers and ended up paying the price. My really only question now is what do you guys add to you tanks to sterilize new fish? Iv heard paraguard is a good all around product but instructions say dose everyday.. so how long do you dose?

I sterilize new fish only if it comes directly from the wild. I use potassium permanganate baths for external and metronidazole+praziquantel+fenbendazole for internal.

Fish from LFS, mail order, and from peers I look at carefully but I don't sterilize them. When I have tanks available, I quarantine them.

Any updates on these guys? Hopefully, they are doing much better.

Unfortunately they both died, I ordered 2 more from discus origin, he quarantines and has had his for a while so at least I'll know these are healthy. I'll definitely keep a closer eye on these new guys when I get them

You should really have waited, cleaned and recycled your tank. Otherwise, whatever killed these gulpers could still be in the tank and will just infect any new gulpers you add to the tank.

Tanks is cycled, I think the gulpers brought whatever killed them and it wasn't from my tank because iv never had issues with it until then, that being said the gulpers won't be here for 2 weeks so I'll be doing plenty of water changes on the tank and I might continue to use paraguard up until they arive
