I would continue with the 75g set up but jump on that 90g and have it waiting for my new species tank. Fifty bucks is a great deal on that 90g. Seems too good to pass up.

yeah, I think I'm just gonna stick with the 75. a 90g makes a great saltwater reef tank cause it allows you to lay down a nice 6 inch sandbed which is great for biological filtration. With a freshwater tank, I won't need that deep sandbed, so I am leaning towards just keeping this 75 and maybe grabbing that 90 for a future reef tank.

thanks for re-assuring me guys!

Good deal! I can't wait to see the pictures of the 75g complete. Then you can get to work on the 90g reef tank. I have always loved the reef tanks but I don't know how to manage them.

^lol, they're a lot of work. Check out my personal gallery... they're a lot of work, but they're VERY rewarding!!

I can help you if you ever decide to go that route :D

Thanks! I appreciate that. But with 5 tanks already going I think my husband would walk out the door and never return it I got another one. Lol

I actually used a diluted mixture of muriatic acid and water to wash the coraline. It took a lot of elbow grease and scrubbing, but I was able to get most of it off. I also used a razor blade where I could. But I didn't want to scrape up the overflow, so I was careful with it. Then I rinsed the heck out of it several times to make sure I got it all out.

Muriatic acid is reef safe, so I know it's freshwater safe too. I wash all my pumps in a diluted muriatic acid mix. It's actually cheaper than vinegar in the long run cause you dilute it to apx 1:10 (acid:water) mix. You can pick it up in any Home Depot gardening section for like 9 bucks.

Be careful with it though. Make sure that you add the acid to the water... and not the other way around. I also wear pvc gloves. If you have an open cut, it will burn.
Careful with muriatic acid fumes. I solder with muriatic quite frequently and if there is not enough ventilation I get nose bleeds. Its harsh stuff. And damn straight about getting it in cuts. The burn is no fun and lingers for a while.
Nice build cant wait to see it come together!

Well I decided against the DIY 3D background and went with a stick-on rockscape instead. I didn't get the substrate down yet, but that'll happen this week.

Here are some pics from today...
