Best way to fed these is to establish some pond life in your tank. Scuds, specifically.

^ that'd make for an interesting aquarium. I'm thinking if setting one up now :), got 3 spare tanks ready to go and access to tons of native plants to scape, including algae as disgusting as it sounds would probably look really good in a dimly lit tank full of these guys:

Looks like an exciting little venture, new tanks and learning about new fish is so much fun, especially a little odd ball like that, hopefully you will get a little breeding group:thumbup:

Fortunately for me this tank was well established ... first started it up to house my Banjo Catfish while I took my time redoing their tank. But kept it running ever since so I'd have a tank with softer lighting for my Anubias Plants. Never thought about algea (just threw a bunch out 2 days ago from a mishap with another tank of ours) I've watched them with the little bits of java moss that finally started growing in there, I always see 1 or 2 of them grazing along it. So it could be a good idea.

They also may breed for you.

Thanks again everyone. A breeding group would be sweet and with 18 of these guys ... quite possible. But at the moment its a secondary thought, my son and I gotta first finish figuring out a permanent home for these guys before we get to that point. Then we've got to set it up.
But down the road it's what we'd like. To see them breed.
The females are supposed to be a little bigger ... and I see quite a bit of size differences in here, but possibly different ages too.
But this one ...

Is by far my biggest, there's a few that are close to (her?) size ... so the potential is there. But for now ... their temporary home will do just fine.

With my luck I would prob end up with 18 females lol... look like mini irwini!-)

Well feeding last night was pretty cool. I've been feeding these guys at lights out with frozen bloodworms. But last night tried something different.
Instead of using frozen blood worms ... I sprinkled some freeze dried blood worms into the tank and turned down the filter for a bit so things could sink. Wow talk about a feeding frenzy ... I swear all 18 of the Haras were darting about all over the tank. I believe its safe to say they have adjusted to my tank.
As well added a few cherry shrimp just to test the waters so to speak. Curious to see if the Hara will feed on them or not.
