hey everyone I really need your help here. this morning my aro was in bad shape. kind of just floating around the tank. He is still alive after I changed 50% of the water added salt and raised the temp to 82. I just got home and he is about the same but still alive, so I did a 50% change of water on my 29 added the max dose of salt 1 tablespoon for 5 gallons and added a half dose of melafix. i am also slowly raising the temp to 85. his slime is fine I tried to upright him and move him back and fourth through the water to circulate water through his gills and I shut the lights off. Now what should I do?? help me out

I think you've done all you can do, now you just have to sit back and hope. Some fish have the will to make it through these things, but many just die off...

Why a 50% water change in the first place? Any anti-chlorine been used?

sorry i should of told you what I think the problem is. I added seachem flourish excel, flourish iron and a pad that removes phosphate to my tank last night. I did it under the suggested dose but I still think one of these is the culprit. I did use prime as a dechlorinator with the water change but thats why I did it. to get rid of some of the chemicals

man this sucks this fish has been my life for the last 6 months. I guess you shouldn't get attatched to fish

But 50% is too much. Your aro could have suffered from ph shock too. To remove those chemcial, you can try adding a bag of active carbon with minor water change,;)

All fish lovers will...;)

seachem guy said that carbon does't affect these chemicals and my ph is out of the tap around 7.2 I keep my ph at 7 so I am still at a loss. also his nostrals are opened up like sores so at first I thought hith but its just his nostrals no other sores. and I did the water change after he was in bad shape so that isn't the cause. please keep drilling your brain for me and give me some more possibilites. thanks for your comments also

My best guess now is that there's too much chemical in there and causes a big change in the water parameter.
