Let it remain till he start eating then after he has build up some mass... you can transfer him... Because he may or may not stop eating after that lol

And will advise you to use a pillow case for the transfer to avoid drop scales

my 12" hiback goes on hunger strikes also...last time about a month ago...barely ate anything for a solid 3 months...couldn't figure out why...fish looked healthy and was swimming normally...tankmates which are a colony of 5 geos are breeding in the tank so i know it wasn't a water quality issue...i did add aquarium salt after weekly water change and that seemed to trigger him to eat again...

you should try fresh fish foods e.g. silvershiners cut in pieces or try some mussels.... in my experience they prefer fresh fish, next come mussels, then shrimp and lastly pellets or any other food ( i don't feed live)
