Help please. Fish I got today looks to have a few problems.

Dosing fish should be the last option. I never dose my fish. If I see parasites is the only time. And I always move the fish to a quarintine tank if so. The smaller the quarintine tank the easier to dose. I think I will get a elong too. It's my favorite Piranha, 5'-6' tank and watch them fly.

Yeah I started the dose at half strength and did half of the treatment. I just didn't know if I should have finished the course. So I just changed about 60% of the water and put the carbon back in. There are still some bubbles from the medication so
I might change more later tonight. I just need to do everything I can to stop it from reaching the base of its tail

Yeah dosing with meds should always be a last resort.
Salt and big water changes typically fix many issues within the week.
