Hi. I recently got 2 baby marbled gobies/soon hock as they are known locally. They are about 1 inch in length.

Currently housing them in a 2 gallon tank with no other tank-mates and I don't intend to get any. What is the best way to raise them? What kinda foods are good for them etc. Anyone with experience raising them can help? I'm currently feeding them with frozen bloodworms as recommended by the shop-keeper.

One eats alot and often times stuffs its face whilst the other does not eat alot. Is something wrong with it?

If any one can give me advise or point me to where I may get good advice that'll be great! As I'm unable to find much info online.

Thanks!

I have a marble goby. They are very interesting fish. I've had it for several months and they seem to be slow growers. I feed mine earthworms and shrimp + feeders once in a while. He spends a lot of time hiding. I would put them in a bigger tank. Mine is in a 75 gallon. My marble is in with a TT eel , GT, and 2 silver arowana with no issues.

hope this helps,
Chris

P.S. If you have any questions just ask.

Thanks alot for that Chris! Yeah they seem like really interesting fishes. My dad used to keep a few, and although they are sold as an expensive table fish in Singapore, I don't see many of them being sold in the aquarium as pets nor was I able to find much info about raising them.

However, one of them eats really well and is quite greedy whilst the other doesn't eat as much. Could something be wrong with it? Or maybe its just not as greedy?

Is one not eating at all? How long have you had them? Are they wild collected? They tend to let the food come to them. If they both are eating I wouldn't worry too much about them. They can go for quite a while without food. If they are wild collected then they may need time to settle in. Rock caves or pvc piping for them to hide in will help.

Hi Chris,

Nope I bought them from a store, not wild collected. Had them for about 3-4days maybe? Do not think the store fed them, they looked really skinny when I got them, tummies were all concave. It eats, like maybe a mouthful of worms and then doesn't eat anymore, so the other guy just gorges on the leftovers till his tummy gets real big.

Got them some rocks to hide in as well, but maybe they have been in a bare aquarium at the shop for so long that they seem to prefer hanging out in the open.

ps: I was wrong about the 2 gallon tank earlier, keeping them in a tank that's about 3foot by 2foot, not sure how many gallons is that. lol

Thanks!

I use sand as substrate--it seems to bring out their coloration. As long as they are eating something they should be fine. They seem to grow quite slow--always getting wider before longer.

If you have any more questions --let me know--I'll help if I can,
