Hi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I knew that there’s a risk with the EBA and danios but I wanted to give it a go. I’ll have a look at the fuller bodied tetras. Would I be able to consider emperor tetras? Currently the keyhole cichlid and EBA are great friends but the Bolivian ram isn’t to happy with his new tank mates.

They may work if you can get them at a good size, personally I’d stick to fuller tetras though.

What are the exact tank dimensions, and how much do you care about the plants?
Another option I’ll add are larger livebearers like mollies and swordtails. They breed readily so you always have a good population and are large enough not to get eaten.

1m by 40cm by 45cm. I do like plants but I’m not super bothered. I care more about the fish in the tank and the benefit of the environment for them rather than the aqua scape. :)

Are there any unusualish livebearers that could work so I could make a small amount of money that would survive in my tank but my LFS might actually be interested in accepting?

There’s some higher end breeds/morphs you can try. I don’t know enough about them to comment too much.
I will say that any fry are liable to get eaten by cichlids and other tankmates so you probably won’t wind up with enough to make more than a few dollars here and there.
