HMA filter for auto drip system

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got my flow restrictor from devotedly discus but I think it is a john guest item, they cost pennies.

I bought the solenoid valve from local plumbers merchant, it is a normally closed 240volt designed for mains pressure, cost about £80. Normally closed is really good as in a power cut it snaps shut therefore no cold water in the tank when the heaters are off.

Give Colin's water a call they sell the whole unit 10 inch 3 stage HMA with all fittings for £49

I have been running some tests over the last 6 months to see if the standard HMA cartridges that use KDF media with slight cooper affects the rays I was told it shouldn't as the KDF media is in the middle cartridge and the last cartridge is a carbon block which should remove any cooper

I have now purchased 7 sets of RO filters for £50 without the membrane
This comes with a 5 micron sediment block a coconut carbon block and a standard carbon block

Colin's water products are cheap and very well made

Go with them you won't be disappointed

Hi Toby can i just check something with you. If it is normally closed i guess you have to switch ON your electric to get it to open thus letting water in your tank. Do you have it on a timer or does your HMA run 24/7? In my head a normally closed would mean it is normally closed and in a power cut it would open? I am a little confused. Any help would be great thanks. I went to my local City Plumbers and they said they never heard of such a valve which was a great help!!

Normally closed means when power is NOT applied, I have a timer to turn mine on for 2 hrs per day (actually runs off my aquatronica)

If the power goes out it snaps shut to normally closed.

Can you remember where you got it from as i am struggling, even ebay only seems to offer them from the united states

I bought it at local plumbing supply, it was a good one at £100, happy to go get another if you want it and will just post to you.

PES in Bordon was the supplier ( plumbing and electrical supplies) 01420 479797

If you pm me your mobile I can send a pic with all ref / part numbers

Thanks Toby but i have managd to get one now, will be fitting it at the weekend.

So a HMA filter is nothing more then an RO filter minus the membrane?

So basically the same as our "drip" filters with a sediment filter added.....

A small valve should give you the same effect as this flow restrictor shouldn't it? Provided it's on the output side of the filter?
