hole in the head?

What the heck is a hybred oscar? As far as I know there is no such thing as an oscar hybrid other then the possability that they may be hybridized with other Astronotus species but I fail to see how this would be a problem.

As for HITH, you need to answer p45's questions. HITH is caused by poor water conditions and a bad diet. Even if you heal this oscar they are prone to get it again if the proper measurements are not taken.

What size tank do you have?
What tankmates do you have?
What do you feed your fish?
How often do you clean the tank and what do you do when you clean it?
How long has the tank been setup?
What are your readings for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate?
 
i keep my 12" oscar in a 55 gallon by himself, but i recently moved him to a 29 to give him medicine and not have to use as much, i feed him a variety of minnows, earthworms and pellets. i give a water change probably once every 2 wks. about 75%. and the tank has been setup for atleast 2 yrs now. i tested the water and all seemed fine with the test that i have. i know the water is right, i think he got hole in the head because i use to only feed him goldfish until rayman told me that was not good for him. so now i feed him a variety of foods.
