hoplias curupira and hoplias aimara diffenences?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
aimara can be keept in a 60 gal tank(till 30 inches) , it doesn't need space just good aeration and filtration

YOUR Aimara might be kept that way.......

Most people keeping them have bigger sumps then that  , AND put much more value on giving it a proper home. I do see the silver lining though, when it dies you could just bury the entire tank instead of having to extract it....... ;)

I wouldn't cram a common wolf in a 60, let alone a wolf that actually swims.......

I wonder why it was so difficult for you to keep. :duh:

I want to see pics of that aimara you have!

i wouldn't even put a red wolf in there TBH. lol

Haha 60gs is only like 16 inches wide, he wouldn't be able to turn around. Spending that much, he would be in a showcase tank. I would like to see some pics as well dude.

But thanks everyone for the comments but my last question is, is it worth the money? Do you feel like It would be worth the time trying other wolfs and maybe siding with a curupira or is it worth the time and money working some extra shifts and stocking up on some extra money for an Aimara? With that kind if money you can get alot of stuff.

I say try a curupira first, and then if you want something beyond that save up and get the aimara.

Absolutely worth the money in my opinion. My favorite fish hands down, and don't see much of anything in freshwater capable of dethroning this favorite.

I have fish that get big. I'd be worried about smaller wolves not fairing well against these monsters, and also be worried about rays getting them. So when I decided to get a wolf there was 2 choices that I thought would work, Lacardae and Aimara. Finding a Lac these days is put near impossible. Every one that I've seen labeled as a Lac over the last several years has been mis ID'd except for one, and they wanted Aimara money for it, so for me the choice was easy. I'm just really happy that I ended up with a puddy cat of an Aimara......
