Nitrofish, have you ever considered Cali Swell Sharks? They are benthic and I think they would be a good alternative in that sized tank. One of my favourite US species aswell
if i was going with some sharks, id do the smoothhounds for sure, and then i would need a tank of 13feet or more, might as well so the horns. ive heard of the swell sharks

Actually - there may be a slight problem in keeping Cali Swell Sharks & Cali Horn Sharks together.

That problem is that the two species seem to have slightly different temperature preferences - based on recent scientific studies. Which show that while the population of Cali Horn Sharks seem to be on the increase in Southern California waters - the Cali Swell shark population seems to be on the decrease. It's that the main reason for this - is the influx of warmer water temps in the area. Horns seem to prefer the water temps - while Swells are less tolerant of water temps in the 68-72F range(20-22 C).

And yes - stingrays usually need to be feed on a daily basis.

ill see what my space allows after i get the koi pond up. id put it in an insulated shed with my koi pond to avoid temp fluctuations etc.
