Raising betta fry is easy, when you've got the proper food for them. Newly hatched betta fry are really too small to take BBS. Vinegar eels and microworms always worked for me. Within a couple of weeks, the fry will be big enough to start on BBS, but those first couple of weeks after absorbing their yolk, are critical and the time when most folks lose their fry.

You've also got to be sure to do regular very tiny water changes on the fry tanks. I used to use a piece of hard airline tubing and attach a piece of regular airline to it to make a tiny siphon I could use to clean up any uneaten food and waste from the bottom of the tank. I'd then drip back in replacement water.

Not to overwhelm you, but I found a cool way to breed/raise bettas. It's called "leaving the father with fry". Pretty self-explanatory, but here is a link to it.

I'm thinking about trying this way next time I try breeding bettas.

I've raised using both this method and the standard "remove dad" method. There are only some males that you can trust to leave with the fry. I actually had one particular pair that I could leave together with their fry without any problems.

You can expect your fry yields to go down, but it's pretty unlikely that you're losing any fish that you'd be really excited about keeping anyway. I wouldn't try this with any males that are exceptionally aggressive. It takes a bit of practice to figure out which males would be good with this setup. You just need to get to know your fish. :)

Unless you're really excited about changing water, I'd look into setting up a betta barracks.
