So my goldfish has a ulcer that won't go away using melafix what would you guys recommend thats a bit stronger. The ulcer is on his head by the gills so I can't clean the wound.

Try API Furan 2 & salt at one table spoon per 5 gallons of water. Is this a community tank? If so what other fish are in there?

At the pet store they only had t.c tetracycline which does the same thing as furan-2. And seeing how this is a time sensitive problem I got the t.c tetracycline, is the furan-2 better or can I use the t.c tetracycline

They are different, tetracycline is most effect against aerobic gram positive bacteria were as nitrofurazone is more effective against anaerobic grame negative bacteria (aeromonas infections) which I suspect this is will not respond to tetracycline. Triple sulfa, neomycin, kanamycin or even maracyn 2 (minocycline) would have been better choices. Tetracycline is not the correct antibiotic and is of very limited use when dealing with aquatic bacterial infections most of which are gram negative.

In the mean time keep the water salted and very clean.

The pet store I go to has triple sulfa so I can get that today to hold him over until the furan-2 arrives

Triple Sulfa works better when you have a PH above 7.5.

If you have a walmart nearby, you can use Jungle Fungus Clear. It has the same ingredients as Furan-2.
