i just typed forever and it said i wasnt logged on  but i was,,,
and my paragraph was erased.

so how do i fool them into spawning ,,,,the common pleco that is.

Water parameters, environment and how should i change it,. feeding and caring for the fry? good links?
If anybody replies I do have a few more questions,

thanks in advance.

They've been spawned in captivity but not in aquaria. Once you get to the "pair digs a channel in the mud walls of the river bank" part of the description, the idea fades.

so a muddy bottom?? so they dont scatter there eggs? its being done somewhere  i heard you should have more than two. ive gotta good start
:) that helps a tad. Is 7- 10 inches big enough to spawn ? 1-5 years old?

In a muddy bank (wall). They're not egg scatterers. After spawning, the male guards the eggs.

As far as breeding size, you still haven't mentioned or posted a pic of your commons. Are they Hypostomus plecostomus or Plecostomus commersoni? And, the more than 2 rule doesn't fit the larger common species of plecos.

how many times do i have to tell you people.. just hold the fish really still:naughty:

I just give my lfs 3 bucks.

I'm all ears on this one . I to have just started with trying to breed mine. I have three 7inch. commons in a 75g planted sand bottom. Mine are hypostomus and hve just been put togeather 3 days ago. I've been feding a high protain food base. So I'll be whatching this post to see if I can learn any poointers.

i would try plecofanatics.com or planetcatfish.com as far as ive read you need some pvc stacked to mimic caves and fast current good luck

thank you , i will try those links and let you guys no if i come up with anything else,
by the way im pretty sure my plecos are called hypostumus plecostomus, I know they get huge and thats o.k. monster fish tanks need monster algae eaters.

When i worked at the lfs people tried returning all kinds of there big fish, they didnt want any money but just to get rid of them,,,, someday I hope to save all these fish and spoil them like they deserve.
