How hard is it to keep freshwater stingrays?

this is just a general question im curious about finding an answer to. probably wont get one for a while, but i saw some motoro stingrays for sale recently and i was curious.

so... how hard is it to keep a stingray?

If you do your research, have a large enough aquarium or pond, and adequate filtration then it is no more difficult to keep most ray species than any other fish.

Yep just like john said , make sure youdo your research and find out what you can about any species that your wanting and be prepared for alot of water changes , they are a great fish thats for sure I just got my first pair of motoros and they are some of my favorite fish I have ever kept .

Water changes filtration and food and then good knowledge on the ray you want and that's about all it takes but best place for research is in the stickies on mfk is about the best place online to get info

They arent as tough to keep as alot of people think IMO

Getting them established is the key. Captive bred is the way to go if possible. Some wild caught are in bad shape when they come in.

Hard work but simple. Hard work due to weekly water changes but simple as they are hardy. They show up weaknesses in knowledge very quickly, you need to understand water cue Katy basics and listen to good advice.

You need to understand ph, nitrite, ammonia and nitrate and what makes what do what. You also need a very large tank. IMO 300 gals will not be enough for motoros, pearls, Leopoldi's etc.....

I think its as hard as u make it...If u have a big enough tank,l excellent filtration, and stay on top of ur water changes it's just like most other fish...

if you have a good understanding of fish keeping they are easy to keep

buy healthy rays to start with and don't under estimate the bio load and do keep on top of water changes then they are no harder to keep than a guppy
