How Long Has Your Equipment Lasted?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have an Eheim 2210 internal filter for my single redbelly that has served me well for nearly 11 years now.
Also have an Eheim 2006 that I must have had for like 13 years now, and other than having replaced a cracked filter holder its in perfect working order.
Also have a pair of "Fluval 1 Plus" filters that I have aso had for around 11-12 years

I can also vouch for Fluval Plus series, I have a working Plus 2; that is at least 10 years old.

I feel like nowadays stuff is designed to break after 3-4 years max, in order to stimulate repeat custom; Fluval is the only real aquarium equipment provider that I swear by.

These have been running since 2009:

1x Magnum 350 Canister (I change the blue filter sleeve every couple months)
1x Marineland C360 Canister (a few times this year the impeller was stuck after water change and restart, and needed to be messed with by hand but the issue seems to have went away)

These have been running since 2007:

3x AquaClear 110 / 500

No hard parts replaced on any of the above though I am suspicious about that C360 impeller.

Only things I ever replaced were heaters due to a recall.

Eheim 2075 > 6yrs
Rena XP4 > 8yrs
AC 500 > 12yrs
Replaced impeller on one '500' & Q/D 'O' ring on XP4. All else has been running like clock work. "T"

Eheim 2217 going on 9 years. The build quality on those suckers is amazing.

Pond pump like this in my 200 gallon lasted me 10 years or so

My dad has this one pump in his pond he built when I was like 10 and 17 years later still running fine.

I am not worried if my main filter gives out I have sponge filters in hand and another pump for backup. I've used that pump to do quick water changes. With my 200gph connected to a tube takes me about 30 or so minutes for a water change. My pond filter takes me literally 5-10 minutes max. The only thing with that it scared the crap out of my fish it has a crazy suction lol

I purchased my first "big" tank, a hagen 77 gallon and an aquaclear 500 20 years ago when I was 15 after working for an entire summer at a dog kennel. I've aquired a lot more equipment since then but I still use both. Although the tank bows a bit (no center brace on the old tanks) and I'm now on my second motor... replaced it last year. Still does the job.
