I currently have a 75 gallon tank that includes 5 angel fish, 1 electric blue acara, and 10 black skirt tetras. I would like to add some corys for the bottom clean up crew. I know they do best in a shoal, but what would be the most I could do in a standard 75 with the stock I already have?

I'm not an expert, but I can tell you Cory Cats are armored but not sure how things will go with the aggressive angels. My dad was able to get them to spawn once when I was a kid, it was completely by accident. Over time though, the jack Dempsey killed everything in the tank. I would consider at least 5 to get a decent shoal. My clean up crew of loaches are very good at keeping the floor clean. Don't necessarily need to get clowns, but perhaps some botias.

Thanks for the replies! If I were to do about 8 to 10 would they all need to be the same type of cory?

They should be in small groups of their own specie imo, I have observed in my aquarium that my cory are social to their own.:)

The most important thing to note is that Cory catfish are not scavengers :) Feed them a good pellet food for bottom dwellers, also algae waffer are liked, they really go nuts for blood worms.:)

It would be best if you could do all one type. Or you could do two groups of two types. But I noticed a huge difference in behavior when I had one large group of the same type as opposed to multiple smaller groups. They are a lot of fun to watch in one big large group.

I have a 125 with albino corys, black corys, orange lazer, etc: and the fish are in groups of 3-8 of a kind and they do good. Most corys prefer colder water (like 72 degrees farenhight) so the angels might not like that.

I keep my tank around 78F. If that's not suitable for them temp wise, what would be another bottom feeder you would suggest besides them and clown loaches? Unless you think they would be ok in 78F temp.
