well no, this wolnt be for life. just while im in college. iv got to save as much space as possible for now. later, yes, i can put them in a much bigger tank... and i want to. its just for the time being. so i think ill go with 3 and see how it goes. the next 2 will probably be babies, tiny little buggars. theyll grow up eventually but not right away. and i think itll be cute watching my big one swimming around with two little duckling types cruising alongside. funny how i got contradicting replys in every other message. how many of yall have actually kept these fish?
than just get one thay can grow fast
i got two in may at 1" now they are 3 1/2 +

6 months to get that big
i free feed flake and cute little cherry shrimp

awww, poor little cherry shrimp lol. wow, actually, cherry shrimp are expensive. do you breed them or are just able to afford that?

no i dont think there is a banjo that gets to 12". there is a fish called a chaca chaca that gets that long, i think, and it is very similar to banjos. it comes from south asia however and banjos come from the amazon river basin. the chaca chaca's are very cool from what iv heard, though they are reportedly hard to keep alive. they are unique in the sense that they will change the pH of the tank water. odd little buggars, one guys iv talked to that has been able to keep them alive says the necessary set up is fairly simple: a 20 long (they dont move much), sandy bottom and flat rock (dont know what the rock is for). oh and they only eat live food. i wonder if anyone on here keeps them.

not breeding banjos
breeding cherry shrimp

I've been keeping them for about 4 months, slowly got 3 now hehe Sandy bottoms are just perfect for them. Kept 2 in a 55g with a Grammodes fine for about a month, then added another one, they were all about 3-4.5".

Went on vacation for a week and found the head and spine with some meat still hanging out, stupid Grammodes got more hungry than i figured. 2 days later and i wake up and look into the tank and see my Grammodes wrecking my biggest Banjo Catfish.

Moved the remaing 2 to my 29g and added a much smaller one about 1.5". All three are in my 29g. My largest one hardly hides anymore, the smallest is a voracious eater when the lights go out. The middle one is still getting used to the 29g haven't seen it eat in there just yet.

They are in the 29g in my sig and the only problem with any tankmates is squabbling with a small fancy pleco for a nice shaded spot under an ornament lol

Added some Moonlights the other night and the littlest one loves the shrimp pellets lol
