How many eggs do dats lay on average?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well the race is on. Invest some money and time and who knows what might happen. I've talked to many datnoid keepers and even guys in thailand have had no luck. But that dosent mean its impossible. They breed somehow. Just gotta keep trying different methods and aquiring tigers that are at least 12"

i would love to see these fish bred in captivity but i don't think theres too many people out there who keep them long enough to mature as a group,i mean they are fairly slow growing compared to say oscars or snakeheads so alot of people get bored after a couple of years and trade them in,or that's what seems to happen round here ! i know there are plenty of dedicated aquarists among MFK members so maybe one day someone will finally crack it i hope so

I think it happened on another site, maybe AC?
it happened on mfk i read it not that long ago, it was 2 diff species of dat he had and eggs eaten/lost when trying to move them, the dats were only around 8" aswell i think. i will have a look for a link

If someone doesnt figure out how to breed them then they will disapear. In my area the stores get bags of two inchers in the spring and early summer and I know this probably goes on on the left coast as well it seems like all of the babies are collected and shipped out so how long can this go on.

Any fish can be bred. All it takes is $$$$$$$$$$ and time.

I bred neons in the 70's ,they were supposed to be impossible to breed.
