Hey guys, I was wondering how often can you scrub your bio film partially in a 125g? I have a heavy bio load. I have 3 oscars (two 7 inch and one 6 inch) as well as a 3 inch jack dempsey, a 5-6 inch pleco, two 3 inch bala sharks, 2 angelfish, 3 small danios and a black skirt tetra. Last thing i wanna do is disrupt the nitrogen cycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

First i would rethink your tanks stocking!!!
Biofilm gets on my glass i usually dont clean my glass very often as i like the Biofilm and algae look in my tanks also i know it helps a little bit it just depends if you like the look

they’re getting a major upgrade soon so that won’t be an issue. It affects the clarity a little bit, I like my tank crystal clear.

I use Magic Erasers to clean the glass during every water change. I loathe the biofilm and hard water stains so I constantly clean them.

So is mine but you cant see it 100% with the film. I notice the difference when i scrub some of the film off. I just dont wanna take it all off and disrupt the cycle. Tryna figure out how often i can do it.

Yeah I hate it to. Do you do weekly wc?

You should be fine, you're not eliminating the bio film, just removing it from the glass. it can settle in your filter, or elsewhere in your tank. Do you have a decent filter? Substrate, driftwood, decore? All of these will provide plenty of surface area for bb to grow. If your that heavily stocked with a bare bottom tank and minimal filtration it may be a different story, but likely won't make a big impact.

Okay great! Yes i have a fluval 307 canister and an vevor canister (396 gph) with a uv sterilizer in it and a tetra ex70 HOB (240gph). I driftwood, many plants and decor as well as sand in there
