how often do you clean out your sump?

I have a small powerhead running at the bottom of my sump which blows out all the crap that would accumulate. It goes back in to the tank, and then is caught in the filter sock. This is a common trick in saltwater tanks that have live-rock sumps.

check out mcmasters.com....they sell filter socks for dirt cheap when you buy 10+. Easy too re-use as well. I toss my in the washing machine(no soap or bleach), run one cycle. Turn inside out....run again. Turn back to normal and run one more time. SPin a few times and they are as good as new. Its nice having a bunch. I toss the old ones in a bucket outside and when i have all but the one running in the sump dirty I run my load of filter socks. I spent a little over $40 on 10 and they are going on year 2 :)

You put the old socks in a bucket with water or just let them dry out? I'm asking because when I did that I put them in water and waited 2 days... Boy did it wreak!! So now when I clean my socks I do it asap.
