How often do you feed frozen bloodworms or no limit?

I don't anymore but when my p's were smaller, I fed them BW once a week. A couple of cubes thawed at room temperature and dropped in the tank. They all seemed to like it except for my biggest one so I stopped since I didn't want him to go hungry and start eating the others.

It was fun to watch though cause they ate it like spaghetti!

oh yea, I forgot you keep RBPs.....they took to frozen foods? When I started read your post I was getting excited like "Finally someone w/ experience feeding LIVE bloodoworms".

No one here ever try the big ones you get live from the bait-n-tackle shops?.....I mean, these things are maybe 4-6 inches or bigger.....looks like hella good meal and nutritious too

Nah...they don't get live...I've always given them frozen.

I've gotten blood worms and night crawlers from the local tackle shop and fed them to my bass as a treat here and there They loved them. Not sure of nutritional value.

Does the tilapia soak in the bvc well ? Always forget to soak it but was thinking it would be a waste of time

unless you are soaking them in boyds vitachem, think of them as a junk food. ok occasionally or if the fish is picky and not eating anything else at the moment, but not a staple. My darters, sculpins and daces get blood worms every day, but after they all get tilapia or shrimp and always soaked in vitachem.

Not every time but whenever I feed tilapia and I'm thinking about it I'll soak in vita chem first. Figure sure can't hurt and might give them some extra vitamins.

I don't feed frozen/freeze dried BWs anymore, mainly for nutritional reasons but also for some health reasons as BWs are collected in very unsanitary conditions and have a reputation for transmitting disease. I do culture them on occasion and will feed them live as a treat, as we have huge midge fly populations.

frozen can transmit disease or just live?

I thought I heard implications from both, It would seem frozen would be preferred in that sense but some companies are known to have better sterilizing procedures than others.

My fish love bloodworm and they get it every single day. They go mad for it, especially my clowns. If i was just feeding bloodworm and nothing else then yes all the concerns about nutitional value, or lack of, would come into play, but my fish get masses of variety so i don't consider it a problem. Besides i only thaw out one small block per feed and shared out amongst the greedy beggars in my tank i doubt very much any individual fish is overdosing on bloodworm.

That's pretty much how I roll, Fam.....idk about every day, but I don't skimp on 'em. They get close to a dozen different foods, flake, pellet, freeze-dried, frozen, fresh produce, cut, live etc
