I just got my new baby (he's about 7") about a week ago. I started cycling my new aquarium with some convict cichlids that are now out of the tank. He hasn't eaten since I got him. How often should I try to feed him? Also, was wondering if anyone would know his approximate age. Thanks!
When they are small it's best to feed small live feeder rosy red minnows. Put a bunch in the tank and he will start picking them off as a little at a time. When he gets bigger you can switch to frozen foods
No offense but most cichlids love just about anything you toss in for them.Getting young, wild caught, piscivorous characins off of live food is a whole nother ballgame....Nice avpic lauren.I'd love to see a captive raised specimen that looks like that one.

he looks alittle small for 7 inch. I feed my goliath every other day to every 2 days. I feed my silverside and frozen feeders. but small at 4 or 5 inches you can feed him once a day but your going to want to slow down once he starts getting bigger.
