How soon after a water change do you feed your fish?

catfish is oily? Uhm, catfish is classed as a delicate - a white meat, along w/ others like bass, cod, hake, burbot to name a few....... oily darks would be more like tuna, swordfish, bluefish, salmon etc. Your medium textures are fish like trout, bluegill, carp, and basically anthing that doesn't fit under a white or a dark, but somewhere in between
Catfish is oily, of course not like salmon but it's oily. When I kept poly's I would feed catfish to help with digestion and to help prevent bloat once a week.

Have you fed it to your fish? I think you're categorizing fish based on human consumption. It's certainly not as oily as salmon, but it leaves an oily film on the surface of the water. So.... I call it oily. ;)

I have not noticed this.....not that I I would feed it to my fish as I like it for myself too much lol!

I wouldn't place an oily fish in my tanks. It's not worth tbe mess.

As isde02 mentioned, it's supposed to help prevent bloat in bichirs which is why it's worth it to me. It's not a big deal to feed it the night before a WC.

I feed before, during, and after. It all depends on what the tanks waterchange schedule is and how often the tank is fed. For juvie discus I'll feed 3-4 times a day and add in a waterchange feeding and you get very personable fish that are always begging when you walk past the tank.

Typically 5-7 hrs after WC. That's really because I finish by 12-1pm with WC, and feed around 5-7pm. I occasionally drop a couple of Hikari sticks when there's only 8" of water just to get a different feeding perspective. They have no issues eating then too.

I always try not to have my fish stuffed full of food during a water change or any tank work. I have always looked at it as, when I'm stuffed full of food I like to relax. I assume the wet pets feel the same.

I feed a treat right after a water change. Helped them come out of hiding when they were babies since they viewed a water change as treat time.
