-Here's the thing. it is very hard to get java moss in this area but i got some, just a little. i want to grow it out real fast in my 150. i will have natural pea gravel sized substrate, temp 77* and pH 7.o-8.0(changing from african cichlids to electric eel so pH will be adjusting to neutral) i have a 36" 50/50 on a 6' tank but i have a 72" availivle if i need it. anything else i can do to make this stuff grow faster. and will MTS eat it faster than it grows, i may get a handfull from the LFS to scavenge the bottom so i dont have to vac as often, remember electric eel! anything will help.
-ive been told the best way to get that stuff to grow is to slack on cleaning will that help?
-also i want to grow the java moss, not algae, but more lights, dirtier tank =algae.
Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Toe

Ah should of said something 2days ago... i trashed a load of it. I have to agree with the Ferts... i added some to my mid tank and zoom 3 weeeks and it was about 1/4 the tank... and that a 29L lol. If u need more msg me in a month.. im going to Super grow it for a veggie filter.

If you want it to grow fast, so you have a lot. I'd just throw it in a bucket, put a basic T12 or T8 over the bucket, and use water change water (even better if you are gravel vacing) into the bucket each week. Then you won't have to worry about slowing maintenance on your tank, or algae outbreaks. Give it less than a month, and toss it in. It should be a very large bunch by then.

i actually got a question about java moss.. I got a batch from Petco for $2. and at the moment its somewhat dark green.. how long will it take for it to actually grow full and to have that rich light green color?

any new growth will be lighter green.

I have a small container on my window sill where the sun can get to it and it grows like crazy. I rip small pieses off to feed my cichlids.
