Shirly the slightly extra surface area would be negated by the slightly lower water volume.

I had to double check the date on this thread because there was a nearly identical one like it several years ago. It was determined that the water was defective since water is suppose to self level. Anyway, the solution was to drain the unlevel water and refill it with level water. That fixed it.

You might want to mention this to your water company so it doesn't happen again.

Solved the problem. The styrofoam mat that came with the tank was old and causing an uneven tilt from front to back.

I'm removing it and replacing it with Ecco Foam from Home Depot. Should fix any problems!
