wow i like your intake. I've just made my self a PVC overflow. going to try your design out. If ic an find the right parts.
 
You can get the paint anywhere that carries Krylon paint. It is very common for painted old outdoor furniture.

Hi Euge,

You should be able to get the parts at any plunbing shop. just show them my parts list and they will know what you need.

Is it now running on a tank with the pump of choice?
If so, what is the noise level at the chosen gph?

Heres a question for ya..

If you were to do PVC overflows in a fish room plumbed with a bunch of large tanks, what are the chances the syphon will break and flood the tanks? Any way to preven it? Float switches im guessing?
 
I am wondering what the flow rate would be thru that. I have a 1.75" overflow pvc pipe, and it can barely keep up with my pump. A 1.5" pipe gurgled and drowned with my pump. I am assuming you would only be able to use a mag5 or smaller for this overflow?
 
Nice take off on our old time favorite http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15733. The folded design cleans up the tank interior some (albeit a larger pipe).

How are you evacuating the air from the system?

Might consider a couple of anti-syphon holes.

Waiting to see what you find out about flow rates :D.

Skimming function is questionable, but can be averted with surface agitation.
