hujeta (rocket gar) size? conflicting reports!

before i got this cool creature, sites HAVE SAID 8 INCHES. now, im reading on some they can be up to 28 inches!!!!!!!!! then i see a pic of a guy holding what looks to be a huge one bigger then a bass. wtf and it had the same face =\

So what is it ....im hoping they stay small like i originally read
 
Although i'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Gars, but i think even the smallest of of them grow to close to if not over 24"
 
a hujeta is a characin. its not a true gar. i just put rocket gar so everyone knows what i am talking about...

floridas can even out at 18 inches in captivity...but anyways this is about the hujeta lol
 
my lfs is very knowledgeable and he said hes been around FW fish for about 15 years and hes had many hujettas and the biggest hes seen in captivity is 10". I have two myself small babies around 2.5" :D
 
i have had one for a while and its only about 4-5 inches. i think that pic must be of another fish.
 
i hope they stay under 12 inches, i had planned on having about 4. i love them
