Yeah but this isn't just a short bodied green texas an entire shipment of them came in from a supplier in SE asia that supplies parrots and FHs etc. I really doubt they are just common texas with a mutation considering the supplier exports a lot of hybrids and line bred fish.Omg, wtf.
It's a short-bodied Green Texas. Which is definitely absolutely NOT a hybrid. The short body is simply a mutation, like the EB gene in Jack Dempseys or calico gene in Convicts.
Jesus christ people, learn your stuff. >.<
*Disclaimer: Well, there is a possibility that something like this can be a hybrid, but more than likely it's a simple mutation.
Considering you can make red texas by line breeding parrots and texas it makes sense that they would also produce short body genes, we all know how parrot crosses usually carry a high amount of fry with that body shape.
MY point is, I didn't by a short green texas from a tank of regular green texas, all the fish looked exacly like mine with an extremely high amount of blue, they are at the very least line bred. And Considering how they have exactly the same body shape as one of my parrots I really can't rule out the fact htat they could easily be hybrids.
I know people on this site are always quick to shout hybrid, But most short body texas do not look like mine, maybe mine is just higher quality I don't know. The fish is only around 2"-2.5" and already has nice trailers and a hump coming. The other texas' I have kept over the years (both kinds) have taken quite a lot longer to get any of those features.
I originally have asked a lot of questions in the SA/CA section and people there just say texas, but they also can`t explain why my fish was so dark besides breeding, which as someone already shown. Is not the breeding dress. MY thread got moved by a mod to the FH and hybrid section, so obviously the moderation thinks its a hybrid so I decided to make a thread just here to get some more experienced peoples advice.
