I need some advice for my Nile Monitor!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Monitors is a blast to keep but you have to be prepared for losing a finger or two if the monitor bite you. If they do bite they bite and throw their head sideways to rip its meal in half. In if that happens to be your hand you can almost certenly say godbye to your fingers.

I dont wanna be an smartass but please take advice from someone who kept some bigger monitor species.

He eating yet? I would start some insect colonies now to avoid paying a fortune, then mix in some vertebrates like fowls, frogs and such etc.

Don't really feed beef or to much chicken.

Once he settles in I would handle him so he's more manageable when older (most niles don't ever fully tame tho).

Also be sure to build him a BIG exhibit as they grow quickly, be sure it is secure as niles pose a potential danger to cats and other pets
