Is this a native? Looking it up I only see sketchy records of small populations in Texas.

According to wiki, they are established in the nueces river, which flows through corpus Christi, so I'd call them native.

Yes they are native and their native range is gulf coast of Texas. I've had them before I moved away. Nothing attractive, but their reproduction life was interesting. Shamefully, many native enthusiasts are so catch up with sunfish, minnows and darters yet North America livebearers are little known and less appreciated.
