I do think that many of the problems mentioned here are related to probe problems. I have had probe issues, but I simply replaced them with new probes that are available on Amazon for cheap. I did have much better luck with them once I covered them with silicone grease to keep them sealed. Placing them in a plastic baggie or simply covering them in actual silicone should also help a lot. Once you get past the probe seal issues, they are very reliable, in my experience.

Did you have the 306 or 308 Inkbird model?

I had the 306T

I've actually been dealing with Inkbird customer service since the end of December. After all the testing that asked of me, they did say the probe must be bad. They offered to send me another one and gave me instructions to replace it., which I still haven't seen. This was on my second controller. When the first crapped out, I just threw it away and ordered the second one.

I've been through at least 4 units in the last 6 months all due to probe errors. I am going to have to give this a shot to my "broken" ones i have laying around. Do you have any pics of your probes i could see as a reference?

I would also like to see these probes... I've seen videos of metal probes.. or at least look metallic... mine is just black plastic but I have no problems with it

The work2 light is for when you want to set a timer or a specific time period for the heaters to be on. For example, if you only want to heat for 8 hours a day, then you'd follow the instructions for setting up the workflow using the same parameters for when to heat given a degree variable, and then the work2 will light up during your programmed heating time.

Here are two options I found on Amazon. These are what I’ve bought in the past to replace my Inkbird probes. The ones I bought came with a little pigtail that you could solder to the board, which allows it to accept the headphone-style jack if you have one of the older ones that had the probe direct wired to the internal board. Of the three I’ve bought, one had the direct wired probe and the other two had the headphone jack style plug. I soldered in the pigtail on the one that was direct wired so now I can simply unplug the old probe and plug in the new one if it goes out again.

I'll have to look at my Inkbird when I get home, but off the top of my head it does NOT support removable probes.

****I fully read and say you mentioned soldering these new ones in. I'd rather not have to deal with that for a temperature controller. After it's been 1 year I'll post my status about my Inkbird replacement.

When I bought the replacement probes they came with the pigtail that solders into the internal board so that the unit can then accept the removable probes. If that won’t work for you, then I believe that the newer ones come with removable probe already installed.

Bit of a necro post...But, I was juuuuuust about to post asking about how to replace the probe on my inkbird ITC-308 but thought I'd search first.
