Iridescent shark question!

They certainly do grow very fast if given proper conditions. My old pair went from 2" to 26" in 2 years. Great fish though if you can provide for them.
 
Not a very good aquarium fish at all. In the wild they are open water fish found in huge schools. Shouldn't be in the hobby but people like the way they look. Yet to see a large one without cloudy eyes or banged up face. Leave this catfish in the wild where it belongs.
 
It is sad that so many pet stores carry id sharks. For example the fish store I went to was keeping them in a 30 gallon and he told me that keeping one in my 10 gallon would be fine. So i've had it in my 10 gallon for 3 weeks and just recently did some research on them and now I am building an incredibly huge indoor pond for him.
