is my elephant nose fish dying?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Aww, sorry you lost him. Maybe the Featherfins sucked the scales off or I do know their is a disease where the scaled fall off but I have no clue where I read it. Keep a close eye on your other fish.

I'm pretty sure it was your Featherfins. My Ghostknife looked like that. It had discolored spots all over its body. I didn't know what was happening until I actually saw my Featherfin sucking on his body. The Ghostknife was so far gone that it just laid there and let the Featherfin feed on it. My wife was pretty mad because the Ghostknife was actually hers. I owe her another one. I'm sorry about your fish. You may have to part with those Featherfins if you are going to buy another Elephant Nose or some other slow-moving, non-aggressive fish.

Elephant noses are scaleless. Maybe it was the featherfins... :(

I lost 2 of my 3 elephant noses in the past... One never started eating for me. The other jumped out of the bag when I brought him in to the LFS to keep him in the display tank. He was getting aggressive with my other fish.
My last one is still alive, and doing well.
Sorry for your loss.
