Hello everyone! I'm new here and this site seems like a really great place to talk about fish keeping.

Yesterday, I bought a powerhead for my aquarium. The type of powerhead is the aquaclear 50 I think. I put it in my aquarium with my 11 inch tiger oscar and 10 inch pleco. Both today and yesterday, the tiger oscar has not been eating at all. He's also been just sitting at the bottom of the tank, hardly ever moving. Is this normal? Like, is he just a little stressed because of something new or is there something wrong with his health?

Thank you :D

Oscars get moody when you change things, even the direction of current. They generally sulk or tilt in a corner until they get over it. I wouldn't worry if that is the only symptom.
Did you do a water test and make sure everything else is okay?

Yes it's normal. It's called "sulking" or "pouting" and Oscars are notorious for doing this when there's a change in their environment... they can do it if you change the lightning, substrate, add a tank mate or even a plant... it's actually really funny. Mine were so freaked out by a plant that I had to remove it, they would hide behind a rock and look at the plant like "What is that?" and then sulk for an hour lol

They will eventually get over it and start behaving normally

Thank you for replying :D Yeah, I tested the water and everything and it's still at what it was before. It's just his mood that changed. He sulks a lot when I do the weekly water changes, but usually just goes back to eating and swimming around after like 30 minutes.

ON that powerhead I think it has a lever where you can tune down the output.

My Oscar is always pissy about something,tankmates,natural rocks moved back into the hole that was dug up by him,plants added where they're destroyed instantly,not enough food,cleaning the tank,turning off the light,turning on the light,another fish wanting to hang out with him,ect.My Oscar is never satisfied with anything apparently.So yes its normal for them to throw a fit about nothing.

@JML1997
Yeah, i cleaned it. It took him until yesterday to start eating again. I think he actually got used to the powerhead in the tank, but he still seem pissed a tiny bit

Gotta love oscars. Can't wait to see mine after work, part of the family.
