Jaguar catfish temps

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It can depend on catch location. For instance I believe gold wolves from Argentina are tolerant of lower temps but ones from Peru aren't. I can attest mine being tolerant of low 70's.

I may put one of mine and gradually lower the temps and see how it does

Why risk it.... do you know your jag cat's collection location and do you have any other fish that thrive in lower temps that it could possibly live with?

Not at the moment.

I have other fish in mind if the jags can work in an unheated tank then I would adjust he stock

Sorry, I can't help. IDK what would happen. The wide temp range possibly indicates the wide geographical areal of the fish. Just like the guys above are saying, some may be more used to colder waters than others. Yet, I don't know if jags are normally collected in the wild or bred in captivity / artificially. Because if it is the latter, the origin may not matter.

Gonna purchase jag catfish for my 150gallon. Is there anything I should know before purchasing the jag Catfish?.Behavior's??
Welcome to the MFK!

Have you exhausted the usual resources already, such as online profile pages, articles, and forum searches, including this forum?

A lot is written on these.

The more you know about a fish before purchasing, the better. IMHO.

They are typically maniacal hiders. You will not see it much at all.
