jaguar cichlid ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As said numerous times, if they will accept them crickets and earthworms are fine, full of nutrients too.. Just make sure to vacuum what they don't eat up so your water doesn't get crappy.. My tank is next to the front door, and at night I'll step out there and catch the moths by the outside light and throw them in. As long as you don't spread insecticides around your home, these things are fine.

Nice pair, what size tank? Looks like he wants to get it on...

I think with the white sand and the black background, driftwood would look awesome. Maybe some oddball rocks here and there, and if you like the fake plant style, sure!

Good luck with them, already big, but look like they are full of more potential.

Thanks everyone. They are in a 125g right now, but I plan to upgrade to a 180g in december. ( if I can afford it). LOL!! The male is def. ready to breed already. The female is not wanting to yet, but I think she may give in soon.

everything said is really good for a varied diet. all i can really add is that they looovve market shrimp. awesome looking pair too, congrats; i'm jealous lol. you might want to keep a divider handy incase the female starts to get bullied because he wants to breed and she doesn't.

Thanks. Yep. I already have a divider for the tank ( just in case). I will keep everyone updated. I hope I can get a spawn from them.

Beautiful pair of jags. I picked up a pair about a month or so ago, they already spawned and the fry hatched about 2 days ago. As far as decorations go flat rocks and driftwood seem to be the ticket, dont be alarmed if the male decideds to redecorate the whole tank.

LOL!! Thanks. As soon as I get the driftwood, or rock work in, I will post a few more pics. If I get a spawn from them, I think I would pass out. LOL!!! I would be extremely excited. LOL!!1

Thanks for all the replies. I have another question. I was watching their behavior yesterday and something has def. changed. The female is interested in breeding now ( she follows the male, and she is rubbing up against him, etc.), but the male acts like he wants nothing to do with her now. Why is this? He stays on one side of the tank, and when the female tries to go over to him, he chases her all the way back to her side. He acts like he is mad at her. LOL!!! Is this still breeding behavior, or is the male just throwing a tantrum?
