Just ordered a 4” albino silver Arowana

I want to start by saying I’ve been in the hobby of marine and freshwater for about 25 years now. I just got out of saltwater to get back into freshwater community setups, after a few months I got the itch to get back into a predatory setups. I currently have a standard 75 gallon (not mention four other setups currently) until we upgrade the aro one year from now to the 150 we’re putting in our next home. When I can expand my fish room. Then one year after the 150 we plan on upgrading the aro to 300 gallon acrylic setup or perhaps even stock pond, depending on maximizing surface area comparisons. Long story short this baby will be taken care of. And live a long life with us. I’ve managed full grown Aros in the past.

My question is, a 4 inch albino silver aro should be able to live comfortably (to himself) in a 75 gallon for a year max, wouldn’t you say so? Since we’re moving him into a 150 in one years time? And then the 300G one year later after that. This is for sure, it’s happening so please don’t doubt our commitment or capability. We’ve been saving all year to make this happened. I’d buy the largest setup NOW but in limited to a 75 (and my other setups) until we move in a year. My main question about the 75 I currently have setup is it has a driftwood centerpiece and will be heavily planted. I plan on doubling the Amazon swords currently pictured. I’m including a photo for reference. Upon my Arowanas delivery this upcoming week. Do you think I need to remove all the driftwood to maximize space for a 4 inch fish in a 75G? And just keep it heavily planted instead? Or will he be comfortable and ok with the with the current setup layout for a few months? Then remove driftwood?

Please let me know your opinions on removing or altering the plants and/or driftwood before his arrival. Is bare and open better for the 4” aro even in a 75 gallon? I was hoping to keep things the way they are with his arrival until he needs more space. But does he look like he needs more swimming space at four inches in my 75 setup? Should I remove all driftwood and stick to plants only only the bottom to mid range? Or am I ok for now? Then as he grows in a few months plan to remove the driftwood. I’d appreciate your advice! I’ve included a few full size photos to give you an idea. I’m also planning on adding taller Amazon swords behind the centered driftwood before his arrival. I mainly want him to feel comfortable, happy and healthy above all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Tbh the albino silver may outgrow the 75g before a year. I had to move a Silver arowana from a 55gal to a 180gal before a year. I suggest getting something larger for the albino silver arowana for life.

The drift wood should be fine for now but you’ll likely need to remove it after few months. My 4” albino arowana grew to 2 feet long 6” width within the first year … I fed him daily for the first 3 months. After 3 months I reduced his feeding to 2 to 3 times per a week.
