Hey guys! Ok so my baby beardie has been scratching up against the glass lately and i was tying to figure out what does this behavior mean? Does it mean that he wants to come out or he wants a bigger enclosure? He is only about 5 inches. Help:screwy:

i had one years back and in my expience with bearded dragons(what little there is) its one of two things he is hungery or you should buy a leash he wants to go for a walk

what food should i give him? i never really see him eat his vegatables but he loves meal worms. and i tried to pick him up and take him out but he started hissing and running so i let him be.

A young bearded dragon can eat solely insects and it's probably best for them. They need a lot of protein because they grow quickly and make sure you are dusting his food with calcium powder every day as well as gut-loading his food. Lettuce is bad for any reptile because of the lack of nutrition. As far as climbing on the glass... I wouldn't worry about it although it MAY be a sign he needs a larger enclosure. All my reptiles have done this at one point or another so i wouldn't worry about it. How long have you had him? How big is the enclosure? Do you have a good quality uvb bulb on him?

Can we get the specs for your set-up?

Tank size, lighting, temps, substrate, what you have been feeding him, lighting schedule(when the lights are timed to go on/off),and do you dust your crickets?

Beardies should eat lots of crickets as babies. My Marvin when he was smaller would eat 30-35 pinhead crickets twice a day. They do ALOT of growing their first months.

feed him crickets but lettice carrets and peas

Please do not feed him this. If you want to give him any nutritional value feed him this:

Dandelion greens, Collard greens, Mustard greens, Bok choy, Kale, Turnip greens, Escarole and Chicory

Anything that says "Lettuce" in the name is mostly water...so no good.

Do not feed any worms till your beardie is at least 5-6 months old, and then only as a treat. Crickets are their main diet till then, and then you can think about switching to Dubia Roaches.

When he scratches at the cage, is it the same spot, or is it like he is looking around? And do not get him a leash at this age...he is way too small.

Don't feed mealworms. They don't get fully digested becasue of their exoskeleton and can be bad for beardies...atleast that's what I have read. Correct me if I'm wrong.
