i bought 2 mice as usual for my ball python before i noticed he's in the pre-shedding days. therefor, he refused to eat, and i know it'll be another week or two before he'll be ready to.

i dont exactly want to starve the mice, and get them sick for the next 2 weeks while the snake sheds and then feels like eating again. i also dont wanna spent money on mice food from the store....will any old household foods do?? cereals and cheese and what not? there in a 10g tank with a small water dish for now.

call me crazy, but i do have a heart. even if im feeding them to a snake, its part of the food chain. but i wont keep em in crappy conditions and unhappy until that day :screwy:

Cereal, bread crusts, any kind of seed would be fine, I'd stay away from cheese...

Newspaper makes good beeding, give them some toilet-paper tubes to hide in.

Try crackers too they will also work.

Try to feed it some nutritious food to gut load it.

thats the idea. i know they will eat just about anything, but dont mean its GOOD for them to eat. like someone just mentioned with the cheese maybe not being a good idea. so ill stick to grainy type foods i guess, unless someones chimes in with something better.

now to just ensure my 6yr old and 3yr old dont get attatched to them, or it'll be non-stop :cry::cry: when feeding time comes.

yup remember... it will end up being snake food. A lot of people use dog biscuits... if you have a dog...

From what I know, they'll eat just about anything. I think raw seeds are probably the best, maybe some fruit.

This might be useful: http://www.hiiret.fi/eng/mice/feeding5.html
Don't have to follow any of it exactly, but it'll give you an idea.

thanks for that site. i actually WANT a black mouse as a pet, so thats going to do alot of good when its time to keep one healthy for its life-span.
