Keeping Hepsetus odoe (African Pike characin)

On the other hand, if a pair forms, they will bully all other pikes into hiding... at least from my experience. I started out with 5.

it depends on when an how much of them I'll be able to get ;-)

My Hepsetus first wont eat for 5 Weeks. I assume that was because he was wild caught and just imported. Know he eats almost everything I serve (Krill, Shrimps, Fishes, mussels) the only exception is any kind of dry-food.

Here some pics of the first "leanly" Weeks

I have to shoot some actual photos, the increase of weight is pretty impressive

Thomas

by the way: Sorry about my english ........ I hope my writing is understandable

Nice pics and fish.

Makes me wanna to get one...they are in season now but at around 3 inches big; might be expensive feeder in my tank.

Nice female, Thomas.
Glad to see that she's eating well now.

Try pre-soaking sinking pellets and throw them in front of her, see if she goes for them.

I got a larger odoe recently. Very neat little fish, but hes a very stubborn feeder. I hope that changes as he's in a tank with some very steep competition.

Thanks al lot for all your replies !

please feel free to post Pics of your Pike's in this thread

here's a new vid fom my Tank with some additional plants

switch to HD !

Hi there

I got a little update about my Hepsetus:

Growing rate is impressive but the female is still alone and I'm still looking for mates with the same size. In all other respects is everything fine :-)

here a comparison from January to December

Regards Thomas
