Keyhole questions

You won't have a problem with a pair of keyholes in a 2X2. I would not add another pair of cichlids simply due to possible changes in behavior when breeding. Laetacara would be another good choice. Many types are more colorful than keyholes and as a species, they have similar behavior to a keyhole.

Keyhole pair it is. Even if they get to 5" I'll be happy with them in my tank. I never planned on having other cichlids in this tank... I only wAnt a single pair of breeding peaceful cichlids. I already have breeding ancistrus and lots of tetras. Again just wanted a centerpiece and the keyhole fits. I don't do dwarf cichlids because how shy and they are I have bread apistos

If you think dwarves are shy, wait until you keep keyholes. Mine were pretty shy unless they were in a community with other cichlids.
