well since i have been getting bigger and bigger tanks and more and more fish. Im trying to find some ways to save a little money. One is the food bill.

Koi pellets are sold for like 20$ for a 5 pound bag so i was wondering if it would be ok to feed to fish such as arowanas, Silver dollars, RTC, oscar, peacock bass(if i could get them to eat it). WOuld koi pellets be alright to mix in with their diet? That includes massivoire, shrimp, silversides and various other pellets.

Thanks

koi food is nothing but carbs- fillers. Koi don't have the same digestive process as other fish. Koi do not have stomachs, so they really don't need anything of much nutrition.

If you want to feed koi food, Go with the BEST and not the cheap stuff. Dainichi is the best. Then Blackwater Gold.

I feed my koi Blackwater GOLD. It's $40 for an 8 lb bag.

I used to feed my tropical fishes koi pond pellets. It cost only 11 bucks for a 5 pound bag at Wal-Mart. If I remember correctly, the protein in the koi pond pellets is lesser than tropical fish food so some of my fishes got fat.

The only thing in the koi food from walmart, tetra etc brands is wheat. it's like cereal.

i've fed this before to some of my mfish including some cichlids and they tend to refuse it.
