its better if your spawing sites aren't shiney or an unnatural (or amazingly light) colour like white too, they want the dark places. Good luck with it, there is at least one other person on the site i know is trying it currently. How big are the parent to be stock?
update male has been in his cave for 3weeks now maybe more.
others have been hanging around his cave ,and at one point one enterd the cave with him
he soon chased the other out tho lol
done wet/dry seasons an everythn but no luck yet ,mite just let them do there own thing for awile
may also add more wood ,caves and flow to the tank
patience is a virtue. I know people that had been waiting on a successful spawn for 7 years. I suppose that made it sweeter for them though when they did lol. Best thing you can do is reproduce their natural habitat.
I have eight adult L204 and not once in the past year has one every used a cave. They always stick to the Malaysian bogwood. There is a large potted Amazon Sword plant in their tank which they keep algae free.
They are fed primarily earthworm sticks and occassional frozen bloodworms and live blackworms. They prefer these foods to algae wafers or boiled zucchini.
Males are larger and much more spiney(odontodes) and have thicker spinier pectoral and dorsal fin spines than the more gracile females. It is better to just keep up good maintenance because they will spawn only if and when they decide to. Doesn't hurt to try the "tricks" but unless they are ready nothing will happen anyway. Plan on years and be pleasantly surprised if it takes less time.
