Yesterday went down to feed the inhabitants in the 180 and was confused why water was cloudy. So today aquarium water clearer noticed a lapradei was missing. Looked on the floor and around the area didn't find the bichir. We'll it came to my mind to check the sump tote behind the aquarium. We'll surprise surprise there was the lap. Took a little while but finally pulled the lap out and put it back in the 180. Thought I had all the nooks sealed but the fish still managed to escape.

Dang… lucky break in the end tho. Happy to hear he landed in the sump
Glad things worked out mate. So why was the water cloudy? Does that have other significance to the story, or just a detail that related to when you noticed the lap missing?
The bottom of the tote for the sump wasn't as clear of detritus as I assumed it was. The dislodged debris was sucked up by return pumped to the aquarium.
the same thing happened yesterday with my dojo loach. was doing a water change, and left the lid open to go turn off the water. when i came back to look, he was nowhere to be seen. I then stupidley assumed that he was just hiding so I went off to play tennis with my buddy for an hour and a half. came back and still couldnt find him so i looked around the base of my tank. found him almost completley dry and stiff on an air vent on the floor. put him back in the tank and he swam off like nothing happened. I knew they could breath oxygen but still, gave me a scare.
